LIFE AT CRAMBE GRANGE FARM

Welcome to Our Family Farm

Nestled in the beautiful Howardian Hills, our family farm is built on a simple belief: good food should delight the people who enjoy it, respect the animals who help produce it, and protect the land that sustains us all. Every day, we work with care, commitment, and a genuine passion for farming that puts quality and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

Farming With Purpose

We are proud to farm sustainably, always looking for ways to support the long-term health of our soil, wildlife, and landscape. We’re not perfect but we are always learning and striving to do better. Our goal is to create an environment where plants, animals, and people can thrive together.

High standards of animal welfare are central to our approach. From providing plenty of space and natural living conditions to paying close attention to the wellbeing of every animal, we believe that compassion leads to healthier animals and better food.

Protecting the Dark Skies of the Howardian Hills

Around one-third of the wildlife in our area is active at night, making dark skies an essential part of local conservation. We take this responsibility seriously. By keeping light levels as low as possible and reducing unnecessary illumination, we help preserve the natural rhythms that wildlife depends on and maintain the magical darkness that makes the Howardian Hills so special.

From Our Farm to Your Table

We love producing food for our community, and we’re proud to sell directly to the public and through local markets. Keeping our products local reduces food miles, strengthens our rural economy, and helps us build real relationships with the people who enjoy what we grow and raise.

Our passion for local food isn’t just about freshness it’s about connection. When you buy from us, you’re supporting sustainable farming, animal welfare, and the preservation of our beautiful countryside.

Thank You for Supporting Our Journey

Our farm is a work in progress, guided by care, honesty, and a commitment to doing the right thing for our animals, our land, and our community. We look forward to sharing our products and our story with you.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Cultivating with care, rooted in tradition.

Nurturing the Land

Caring for our land is at the heart of everything we do. Each field, hedge, and habitat plays a role in the wider landscape of the Howardian Hills and we take that responsibility seriously. By farming sustainably, improving soil health, reducing inputs, and encouraging natural biodiversity, we aim to leave the land richer and more resilient for future generations. We know we’re not perfect, but every season offers new opportunities to learn, adapt, and do better.

Respect for Nature

Respecting the natural world goes beyond good intentions, it shapes our daily decisions. From maintaining high standards of animal welfare to protecting the dark skies that so many nocturnal species rely on, we strive to work with nature, not against it. One-third of the wildlife in the Howardian Hills is active at night, so keeping our environment as dark as possible is essential for conserving these precious habitats.

Education at Heart

Sharing knowledge and inspiring others is a core part of our mission. We believe that sustainable farming grows stronger when communities learn together. That’s why we’re proud to work with York University’s Sustainability Clinic, welcoming students who bring fresh ideas, research, and enthusiasm to the challenges and opportunities of modern farming.

We also regularly host local school visits, giving young people the chance to explore the farm, meet the animals, and discover how food, farming, and the environment are connected. By opening our gates, we hope to spark curiosity, encourage understanding, and help nurture the next generation of environmental stewards.
